Section 1602 - Tax Credit Exchange

ARRA Background Information

President Barack Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), February 17, 2009 to combat the recession, stimulate the economy, and begin systemic reinvestments in the nation’s physical and economic infrastructure.

The funding provided from ARRA provides the State of Oklahoma with powerful resources intended to combat national dislocations within the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, the nation’s most substantial affordable housing production tool over the past two decades.

ARRA included two provisions for LIHTC:
●  $2.25 billion for the Tax Credit Assistance Program (TCAP)
●  OHFA’s ability to exchange certain allocations for cash from the Treasury (Exchange).

OHFA will be working with our LIHTC partners to move forward and leverage these two resources within our mission of providing affordable housing to the citizens of Oklahoma.
